Update (May 1st, 2020 )

The staff of Delmar College are looking forward to a gradual reopening of our salons, spas, and schools. The province is planning a gradual opening of salons and spas in phases, however, Delmar is also a designated post secondary school, meaning that we may not open in the same time frame as stand alone salons and spas. We will continue to take direction from Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Chief Medical Officer of Health for Alberta, and Premier Jason Kenney, regarding when we are able to start taking regular appointments again.

Delmar staff and administration are planning to open with new protocols and procedures around safety of students, staff, and clients. We will be instituting social distancing measures, as well as strict cleaning and disinfection practices. Some of these measures may include masks, gloves and gowns, as well as more time between clients to ensure safe work stations.

We will continue to take direction from the Alberta Government and health officials to implement our plan to reopen. We are looking forward to seeing all of our valued students, clients and team members as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for supporting Delmar College and we look forward to serving you soon.

Open Letter to the Delmar Community:

Dear staff, students and clients of Delmar College,

Thank you for being so adaptable in such a short period of time. I hope everyone Is finding entertaining ways to practice social distancing as a family. Delmar’s team has been working hard to launch our remote learning plan. It has been inspiring to watch the calm, the camaraderie, and the creativity of our teachers and administrators as we make this transition. I am grateful to be going through this unpredictable time with this team at this school!

We recognize during this time that families may encounter a variety of challenges - balancing work and having your children at home being just one of them. As well, some of our students will jump right into a remote learning environment, and others may struggle with the change. One of our goals is to stay connected; we will take this day-by-day together, and the Delmar team is here to support you with flexibility, support, and advice. We also ask for your patience during any bumps in the road that may occur during this transition.

For staff: We have the most amazing staff. Thank you to all of our dedicated and inspiring team members who go above and beyond every day to ensure that our students come first! You make us proud and instill us with confidence, at a time when only unpredictability is certain. Thank you for all you do!!

For students: We are committed to your learning and will ensure that every student will continue to receive the quality of education that decades of students have received since 1950. When we resume “face to face” classes, we will make certain that you have the practical training you need to be successful.

For clients: We look forward to seeing you again, when we are able to open for services once more. We miss you!! We share so much more than just a haircut. Our chats, laughter, and stories are something we miss dearly. We are worried and stressed about our families and how we had to close so quickly. We patiently wait for answers, reassurance and clarity as we hope and pray that you will be back to us soon and our industry comes back stronger than ever!!

We stand, not behind our chairs right now, but united and in solidarity to being safe through this Pandemic!

Wishing everyone distance and health.
